The U.S. Embassy together with the American Corners and various private and public partners throughout the Philippines hosted the 2020 NASA Space Apps Challenge which ran from October 2 to 4, 2020. The event was held in seven cities and opened with a virtual data bootcamp to mentor the teams competing for the succeeding 2-day hackathon. The NASA Space Apps Challenge aims to develop technology-based solutions for current global concerns.

DepEd National Science and Technology Fair | 03 March 2020
The U.S. Embassy supports the 2020 DepEd Philippines National Science and Technology Fair. Cultural Attache Matt Keener, delivered the embassy’s message of support to an audience of over 500 students, school and government officials. The four-day fair brings together 40 teams from different regions of the Philippines to present their projects and compete for a chance to represent at the 2020 International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May.

American Center x Google Education Workshop Culminating Activity | 31 January 2020
Over 80 elementary and high school teachers completed the ‘Maker Monday Brainery’ workshop that ran from September to December 2019. Teachers learned how to integrate tech tools such as GSuite, Chromebooks, and a wide array of apps and 21st century teaching strategies in their classrooms to increase student engagement and learning. They gathered once again on January 31, at the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines to receive their certificates of completion. The workshop series was organized by American Center Manila in partnership with Google Educator Group (GEG)-South Manila.

It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. He is most well-known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United States.
